Was federalism restored when Indiana “voided” Common Core?

September 4, 2014 1 Comment

Listen to Heather Crossin give a speech on how true federalism was NOT restored by Indiana’s attempt to void the Common Core Standards. In a step by step manner, she presents the problems with the process of the development and adoption of Indiana’s “new” standards, and reveals that, for all practical purposes, Indiana simply slapped our state seal on a federally-imposed set of inferior standards. Federalism wasn’t restored – it was destroyed.

The video picks up after she spoke on the poor quality of the “new” standards. For more information on the quality please see our other posts here, here, and here.  Also, listen to Hoosier native and world-renowned Stanford mathematician Dr. James Milgram give his critique of IN’s new Math Standards in the podcast below.  It will leave you speechless, as will his analysis of what this means for the future of our nation.

thank you so much for informing parents of this horrible curriculum. we moved from Illinois in 2005 and I was so impressed with the IN educational system. I appreciated the higher standards of this state for my four children. then common core kicked in and it took me quite a while to comprehend it. I just barely graduated high school myself but wanted opportunity for my kids. even I could see the new curriculum was sub par. I want to do what i can to help. at least our good state is looking at the issue and somewhat listening to parents. we can get back to good standards. i know the fight is huge, but let’s at least let our IN kids get a good start in life. i want to help fight federal control. the feds can’t run a single program correctly as far as i can tell. If there’s anything i can help with please let me know. thanks again to all of you who are leading what is right for our future generations.
